Verified download: prf32-216.zip · Windows only

Before you start

Use a Windows account that can install software. Connect and power on the printer, and have one roll of the correct labels ready. The required printer is TSC Auto ID TTP-247.

  1. Install the TSC TTP-247 Windows driver
  2. Install PrintFile
  3. Copy every PrintFile setting
  4. Make PrintFile the default app for .prn files
  5. Download and print a label from the browser

Install the TSC TTP-247 printer driver

The exact model is the TSC Auto ID TTP-247 desktop thermal-transfer barcode label printer.

  1. Connect the printer to the Windows computer and switch it on.
  2. Open the official TSC Download Centre .
  3. Enter TTP-247 as the model number and download the current Windows printer driver.
  4. Run the driver installer. Select the TSC TTP-247 and the correct USB or network port when asked.
  5. When installation finishes, open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners and confirm that TSC TTP-247 appears.
Skip the Windows test page. This label workflow sends a prepared printer file directly to the device, so a normal Windows test page is not a useful check.

Download and install PrintFile

  1. Download prf32-216.zip and save it to your Downloads folder.
  2. In File Explorer, right-click the ZIP file and choose Extract All.
  3. Open the extracted folder and run Setup.exe. Accept the Windows administrator prompt and complete the setup.
  4. Open PrintFile from the Start menu. If the installer did not create a desktop shortcut, open Settings in PrintFile and click Shortcut....

Only install the ZIP from the download link on this page. A .prn file contains raw printer commands, so only open label files downloaded from Carats.Online.

Make PrintFile the default app for .prn files

This Windows association is what connects a downloaded label file to PrintFile.

  1. Download one label from Carats.Online so that a .prn file exists in your Downloads folder.
  2. Right-click the file and choose Open with > Choose another app.
  3. Select PrintFile. If it is not listed, choose More apps > Look for another app on this PC, then browse to the installed PrintFile.exe.
  4. Choose Always use this app to open .prn files, then click OK.

Alternative: open Windows Settings > Apps > Default apps, search for .prn, and select PrintFile.

5

Download and print a label from Chrome

  1. In Carats.Online, choose the label you want to print. The browser downloads a file ending in .prn.
  2. Open Chrome Downloads using the download icon or Ctrl+J, then click the downloaded .prn file once.
  3. If Chrome offers Always open files of this type in the file menu, select it. Future .prn downloads should then open automatically in PrintFile.
  4. PrintFile sends the prepared label file to the selected TSC TTP-247 printer and closes when the command finishes.
If Chrome does not show the automatic-open option: this option is not available in every Chrome version or managed browser. Open the Downloads folder and double-click the .prn file, or click it in Chrome Downloads. The Windows default-app setting still opens it with PrintFile.

The same fallback works in other browsers: finish the download, then click the file or double-click it in Downloads.

Final check

Print one real label from Carats.Online. The expected flow is:

Carats.Online.prn downloadPrintFileTSC TTP-247

If the label does not print, check that the printer is powered on and listed in Windows, then reopen PrintFile Settings and confirm that TSC TTP-247 is still selected. Do not use a normal Windows test page for this check.
